What is Natura 2000 ?

The Natura 2000 network aims to ensure the long-term survival of particularly vulnerable species and habitats. This European initiative, which has been rolled out in France, aims to enhance the natural heritage of the region.

Reinforcing our vigilance around Natura 2000 protected sites

The purpose of the ARKEA ULTIM CHALLENGE-Brest is to bring people together and inspire them, without making them pay a price for local biodiversity. That's why OC Sport Pen Duick is stepping up its vigilance around Natura 2000 sites and protected habitats. To this end, a Natura2000 Impact Assessment (NIA) is carried out prior to the event to check that the activity will not have a significant impact on habitats and species. This NIA also lists the various avoidance, reduction, monitoring and support measures put in place as part of the race.

At the same time, OC Sport Pen Duick is working with the government to put in place all the measures, including the closure of certain particularly sensitive sites.
This operational vigilance plan will be communicated to visitors to the village.
